Last week for Michi: Maria Braun
Cinémathèque recently played a round of Fassbinder films. I think I saw five of them, and felt quite differently about each, which would be more surprising if RWF had not been so incredibly prolific.
I loved the Marriage of Maria Braun, and was quite exhilarated by it, but my favourite was probably, In a Year With 13 Moons, which is strange and difficult and mesmerising - so much so that when we left the cinema I could barely say whether I thought it was good or bad, and it was only the next day that my mind woke up and said, wow.
I highly recommend both but warn that the latter contains very graphic scenes from inside a slaughter house.
